Junior Business Development Manager
Job Description:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and initiate a sales campaign and pipeline into the SADC region to grow new and existing business.
- Provide research on English-speaking countries within the SADC region and plan business operations accordingly.
- Forecast, analyse, and identify key industry players in the SADC region; engage with them online and in-person to secure business.
- Deliver marketing strategies to penetrate key accounts and enhance existing business, including support structures, market research, sales projections, and forecasts.
- Facilitate B2B trust and relationships by providing clients with industry research to promote strategic initiatives, sales revenue forecasts, and profit-enhancing communication.
- Conduct product, customer, and industry research to support strategic decision-making.
- Negotiate business terms and conditions.
- Provide tailored systems solutions.
- Create compelling content and deliver presentations (online and in-person) to promote business and drive sales.
- Facilitate product support, training, and service delivery across the region.
- Manage administrative follow-ups (e.g., quotes, invoices, delivery schedules).
- Maintain daily liaison with clients.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry and maintenance in the CRM system.
- Achieve assigned sales and development targets.
- Prepare, attend to, and process tenders.
- Submit daily reports and provide feedback to the Sales Manager.
- Meet customers online and face-to-face to develop and strengthen business relationships.
- Strategize, motivate teams, attend industry shows, and train customers on all relevant products.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or market expansion, preferably focused on the SADC region.
- At least 2 years of proven sales success; must provide evidence (e.g., achieved targets, new business acquisition, client relationship development within the SADC region).
- Working knowledge of:
- Industrial Automation IT industry and related infrastructure solutions.
- Smart grid applications, including renewable energy, substation transition, and distribution.
- PoE-based solutions and their implementation.
- Experience in vertical market development (e.g., IT, Power, Rail, Mining, Marine, Security, Solar, Wind, Water).
- Proven experience in tender processes, export procedures, and engineering documentation to support sales.
- Demonstrated ability to research and cultivate B2B relationships.
- Experience with business travel within the SADC region.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Diploma or N+ qualification is beneficial.
- Background in Computer/IT/Network Engineering within the industrial sector.
- Experience with procurement software (SAP is an advantage).
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office and reporting tools.
- Service-oriented mindset.
- Solid understanding of developing and established markets within the SADC region, with the ability to secure and grow business.
- Capable of delivering innovative product and service support solutions.
