Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented finance professional to join our manufacturing company as a Junior Financial Manager. The successful candidate will assist in managing finance and administrative functions, supporting accurate bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting. This role will work closely with the finance and administrative team, including a bookkeeper, debtors clerk, creditors clerk, and wage clerks, while gaining exposure to financial management processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Bookkeeping & Financial Transactions

    • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and the general ledger.

    • Support accounts payable and receivable processes.

    • Help reconcile bank statements and supplier accounts.

    • Ensure compliance with basic tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, and other statutory requirements).

  2. Accounts & Payroll Support

    • Work with the finance team to ensure accurate payroll and accounts processing.

    • Assist in preparing payment schedules and monitoring creditor and debtor accounts.

    • Provide support for daily financial operations.

  3. Administrative Support & Team Collaboration

    • Assist in guiding the finance/admin team under the supervision of senior management.

    • Help maintain smooth operations within the department.

    • Collaborate with management to improve workflow and system integration.

  4. Financial Reporting & Analysis Support

    • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.

    • Support budget preparation, cash flow monitoring, and cost tracking initiatives.

    • Help implement and maintain cost centres within departments.

    • Contribute to improvements in financial processes and administrative efficiencies.

  5. Cost Control & Budgeting

    • Monitor department expenses in collaboration with management.

    • Support the implementation of cost-saving measures and adherence to budget guidelines.

  6. System Support & Process Improvement

    • Assist with the transition to integrated financial management systems.

    • Support the development of monthly management reporting processes for improved business tracking.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (professional accounting qualification advantageous but not essential).

  • Experience: 1–5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping; exposure to manufacturing or business operations is a plus.

  • Software: Familiarity with financial software (e.g., Pastel, Sage) and Microsoft Excel. Experience with business intelligence or live reporting platforms is an advantage.

  • Skills: Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and grow in a finance management role.
